I was so excited to be asked to contribute to our new column in Waypoints Global, until the daunting task of where to start had me choosing laundry over writing. The big question: where to start with such a vast project? Then it hit me. I recently made a major lifestyle change which took considerable thought and perhaps a little over-analysis. In the end, I held my breath, took control and jumped into uncharted waters.
The whole catalyst for this change was my desire to improve my lifestyle which made me have to stop and reflect. What was my current lifestyle? In fact, what did lifestyle mean? So I asked Google Assist and this is what came up:
Life style noun 1. The way in which a person or group lives.
What caught my attention most, was that the word “life style” (apart from being shown as two words) was not viewed as something in the future, but where we are right now.
You might be asking what this has to do with waterfront living, when in fact it’s one of the first considerations you should consider before venturing forward with any new goal or dream. Where are you now? Take stock of what you have, what’s working, what’s not. By doing so, you will have started the process that will lead you to finding your own waterfront waypoint.
Two Questions to Kickstart Your Waypoint Waterfront Dream
- What do I envision when I think about living by the water? Does this come from past experience or a future dream? Who’s in my picture? Close your eyes and envision the scenerio. What do I see? hear? smell? taste? feel?
- Will I be sharing this lifestyle with anyone else and if so, what is their vision? Ask them to go through the same scenerio unedited or influenced by you. How does this compare to your dream? Now talk about it!
By taking the time for these two critical steps, you will make everything about your personal journey to come, that much easier. I hope you are as excited as we are to see where your dreams of waterfront living will take you.
