Nothing says Waypoints more than Port Ferdinand located on the northwest Platinum coast of Barbados. From the moment I was greeted with a glass of bubbly and escorted to my temporary “home away from home”, I knew I’d arrived! A sumptuous three-bedroom villa with expansive terrace overlooking million-dollar yachts and the Quarterdeck gathering place was only the beginning of my Barbados experience.
The simple turtle logo for Port Ferdinand is emblazoned everywhere, from linens, to menus; it was even on the ribbon of my welcome treat. The secret though, is the two turtles living on site in the marina. While sipping cappuccino on the patio at the dockside restaurant, aptly called 13°/59°, I was treated to a visit by one of the resident turtles who poked her head out of the water to see what was happening ashore. That same evening, during a private BBQ dinner on the beach at their sister property, St. Peter’s Bay, one hundred baby turtles hatched by our table, and confused by the lights, had to be rescued and released in a safe location down the beach. Lifetime memory!
The concierge staff at Port Ferdinand are on point, meeting every need, wish and whim. I was particularly delighted to have cookies and a small snifter of cognac left on my bedside table each evening. I do love my chocolates but this was a delightful change. After a reviving facial, a walk in the Sandbox Tree Spa’s grotto was a cool, serene retreat from the mid-day sun. A week at Port Ferdinand is the perfect destination for families who seek a memorable vacation. The resort’s tagline #Luxury with soul sums up the entire experience from start to finish.
