It’s almost impossible to travel these days without tech, whether it be your phone, tablet or laptop and even although many claim to be waterproof, the investment is worth some proper protection.
I must admit that it was the colour that caught my attention first “Glacier Blue.” I wasn’t going to be hiking on glaciers on this trip, but I would be in the midst of many icebergs. Waterproof was the main feature I required and according to the clerk at MEC, there is a little tag as pictured on the side of the boot that certifies them waterproof. I first wore them jumping into a zodiac off an expedition ship in Greenland, hoping they would be comfortable and oh, they were. They felt immediately like my boots because I didn’t even realize I was wearing them as I hiked many miles that first day of wear. I loved how they hugged my ankles – not too tight and not too loose, while giving the ideal amount of support. Going from a regular trail shoe on previous trips to this colourful boot has been an easy transition with no breaking in required.
We all know how important it is to keep hydrated and many of us are often seen carrying a heavy, insulated bottle around with us. At home, the bulk, the weight and the space they take up is of little importance, but when travelling, any item that can be packed flat and weigh nothing is a bonus.Explore
Any pair of gloves that has this poem on the tag attached wins my heart immediately – even before I try them on. The detailed fit with soft leather palms suitable for texting and the elasticized wrist with wrist zipper for optimal fit all lived up to the hype the poem.Explore
Full confession…I haven’t actually travelled with an Encircled Cardi yet, but I was introduced to this Canadian-made line through a close friend whose fashion savvy I truly admire.Explore
Sometimes, when travelling, you just might find yourself invited somewhere where you want to look at bit more put together.Explore
Do you wear your heart on your sleeve when you travel? So why not put it on your backpack, too? Travellers used to wear flags on their rucksacks, sometimes also sporting sewn-on patches collected from around the world. Now everyone totes smartphones and looks the same.Explore
I just love flipping through my passport to remind me of all the adventures I’ve had…so far. I’ve often thought of mounting a map on the wall and finding the perfect pushpins to mark my travels. Blue for been there done that; Green for not yet must go.Explore
I really enjoy packing. It’s the first sign of a new adventure awaiting me. I also light small, hearty containers that allow me to take everything I want from beauty creams to perfumes to insect repellents…that are durable, lightweight and indestructible.Explore
